Welcome to True Physician Care, the primary care practice of Erica Hwang, MD, FACP.

A highly respected internist in the DC Metropolitan area since 1997, Dr. Hwang is pleased to continue serving patients through her committed and compassionate practice of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Hwang combines the science and art of medicine in delivering thorough, attentive care to each of her patients.

Due to the amount of time she devotes to each patient, Dr. Hwang's practice is now closed to new patients. There is no active waitlist at this time. Dr. Hwang will honor prior requests to take on specific family members of her current patients, but can no longer accept additional family members as her practice is at capacity.

For Current Patients

PLEASE READ UPDATES BELOW:

No later than January 1, 2026, our EMR will discontinue the Patient Fusion portal and switch to FollowMyHealth from Veradigm, a more robust portal system. We plan to complete our migration in mid-December (tentatively December 19th). Once we complete our migration, any patient that has enrolled in the Patient Fusion portal or who has previously received an invitation to the Patient Fusion portal will be automatically sent an invitation to FollowMyHealth via email. If you wish to continue to have portal access, please follow the instructions from the FollowMyHealth email once you receive it. If you do not receive an email invitation by January 1, you are welcome to request one from Tanya or Dr. Hwang after that date. While we also will learn more about what the FollowMyHealth portal features will include, we anticipate the following:

Two-factor authentication for increased security
Ability to send documents to patients
Ability for patients to view lab and test results and clinical summaries
Note that we do NOT plan to use the Patient self-scheduling feature offered by FollowMyHealth for appointments. That is because Dr. Hwang and Tanya customize our schedule to accommodate our patient needs (i.e. who needs extra time, when do we squeeze in a pre-op or nurse visit, etc.).
Old portal message history from Patient Fusion will NOT migrate to FollowMyHealth. If there are secure messages in the Patient Fusion portal which you would like to refer to in the future, please consider copying or taking a screenshot of those messages for your records.

Our Thanksgiving closure of the office this year will be from Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28.

Tanya will be away from December 8-12 and will also be out of the office on Friday, December 26.

Our office will close at 3 pm on Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) and Wednesday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve).

In December, we will also send out invoices for the 2026 Annual Administrative Fee. The Admin Fee will increase from $240 to $250 this year. You may use the link contained in the invoice to pay your fee electronically if you prefer to pay via credit card. We kindly ask that the fee be paid by January 31, 2026. Please reach out to Tanya if you have any questions or specific requests regarding the Admin Fee.
